Coaching
What is financial coaching, and why is it different from financial advice?
Sometimes, we just need a bit more help to get to where we want to go.
This might be because you need a sounding board before making a big financial decision.
It might be that you are struggling to take control of your spending and saving, and need more personalised help with budgeting.
You might be trying to create more margin for savings at your current income, and need recommendations on how to best clear personal debt, increase your income and start saving and investing.
It may be you feel you'd benefit from discussing personal financial goals, and would like help working out how to set and reach them.
Unlike a financial advisor or a wealth manager, I can't and won't sell you specific financial products or offer to manage your money and investments. I can't tell you to invest in specific products or take responsibility for the movements of the market. Coaching is simply working together to help you better understand your unique situation, and how to make the best of it.
So what can Budgetopian financial coaching offer you?
My unique coaching style blends a quality understanding of personal and behavioural finance and my positive and motivating personality with my experience training as an occupational therapist to understand and target the whole package: that is, you! As a human being who has a life and family and problems and aspirations and who makes real, meaningful decisions on a day to day basis.
This means I work holistically, that is, looking at your life as a whole. Although I have experience working both clinically and non-clinically on personal finance related goal setting, I feel the most value comes from working together to set financial goals that actually match the rest of your life: remember, money is never, ever an end in itself. I can help you understand your why, in the context of everything that matters to you.
By developing an understand of your financial situation together with your unique life circumstances we can work together to create meaningful, realistic goals that put you on a solid path to success: whatever that may mean to you. For me, that meant learning and applying specific financial and behavioural systems to go from broke (or less than broke, which is what being in bad debt is) to enough for me.
For friends and family I have already coached, this has varied from:
- Prioritising paying off bad debt
- Establishing realistic budgets
- Learning more about investing
- Changing money mindsets
What does coaching look like?
Because it's so important for me to understand you as a person within the context of your own life before we can work on your money, it's important we get to know each other a bit first!
My coaching fee will cover an initial online 30 minute consultation, wherein you can tell me about about your situation, lifestyle and goals and ask me any questions you may have.
By the end of this initial consultation, we'll have agreed on an area on which to focus during the main session, which we will book as a following 60 minute session at a time that suits you.
In this session we will dig deeper into the area of focus and together create some specific, meaningful steps you can take moving forward to get you well and truly on the path to a badass Budgetopian financial future.
